I first met Joy De Gruy who was then known as "Joy Cross" when I was a teenager only 14 years old when she had recently moved to the Portland Oregon Metropolitan Area in 1985 in Troutdale Oregon. She was then highly active in the Portland Bahai Community was married to a man named Henry Cross and had at least 2 children and was really trying to start a Bahai Youth Dance workshop to do public Dances a lot like the Los Angeles Bahai Youth dance Workshop doing group dances to Michael Jackson songs. Her brother was from L.A. supporting that workshop there.

She wasn't free from being Hoodwinked by Bill Cosby's lacking integrity. I remembered being at some Bahai gathering and they had a lot of Bill Cosby pictures as though her friends and family interacted with Bill Cosby or was some kind of fan. (but who wasn't hoodwinked by Jacko and Bill Cosby wayback in the 1980's?) So that's not my chip on my shoulder. I'm just mentioning this because I really was impressed by Joy's passion and dedication and zeal and in 1986 when I saw her Speak at a Bahai Conference in San Francisco I wouldn't have known her as anything other than on Fire! I respect her for a lot of her research into dark subjects. That's why she reminds me of Douglas Duane Dietrich.
