The cycle of Jupiter and Pluto is approximately twelve years long, and one of its meanings is "the responsible use of power." In fact, the cycle of these two planets pertains to the development of and orientation toward power of all kinds.

Right now Jupiter and Pluto are involved in the incoming sextile phase of their synod. By "incoming," I mean that the cycle is in its waning phase. Recall that sweetly sad feeling you get when holiday is over and it's time to go back home? That's the atmosphere of the incoming, waning phase of any planetary cycle.

Jupiter is in a superior position to Pluto, meaning that Jupiter is overcoming Pluto -- taking something from Pluto, extracting something very much like a tithe. Jupiter is beating up on Pluto, despite the nature of the sextile, which is mildly collaborative.

On January the 15th, 2018 Jupiter perfected its *first* sextile of Pluto (first of an eventual three) and on that day police in California arrested a couple, 57-year-old David Allen Turpin and his wife, 49-year-old Louise Anna Turpin, for holding their 13 children captive, some chained to beds in the dark, which illustrates something of the principle of this cycle -- power used responsibly (or, in this case, power abused and mishandled...note the secrecy of Scorpio here).

The chart pictured below is for the second sextile of three that Jupiter and Pluto will make on the 14th of April, next month. The first sextile perfected on the 15th of January, this year. The next will feature Jupiter retrograding backward into the exactitude of the sextile. The final stage in the process will be on 12 September 2018, when Jupiter (moving direct by now) makes its terminal sextile with Pluto before closing out the cycle completely.

What will these next stages in the Jupiter-Pluto cycle mean? I'm going to stick with the keywords "responsible use of power." On the 15th, a husband-and-wife were punished for not using power responsibly.

In the chart pictured, Jupiter is in the 7th and Pluto is in the 9th whole sign, conjoined with the MC of the sextile-phase chart. Could this motif of "responsible power" play out in some high-profile court case? Or could it have to do with the incipient trade wars that America seems hellbent on initiating?

What will the sextile of Jupiter and Pluto mean when the last one occurs in September? In that chart (unshown) Jupiter is in the 5th House of Elections, so maybe the motif of "responsible use of power" will play out in the context of the American electoral process, which has certainly come under the microscope over the past year.

One thing is for sure -- we will find out! What do you think the sextile of these two powerhouses will mean for the world? What does it mean for your chart?
